Cushion, with hand-embroidered wool on loom-worked linen, which is part of my private collection of fabrics from the early 1900s. They are the precious journey into a time of knowledge and colors. The decoration is typical of the Slavonian embroidery school during the Austro-Hungarian period, unique and recognizable, so much so that the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York exhibits the most beautiful dresses from that era. Made by master embroiderers who used only the best yarns of the time, including strictly hand-spun wool that was then dyed with organic and non-toxic dyeing techniques that have been used for generations.

The precious fabrics, passed down from the women of the Slavonian villages, where the costumes tend to be very elaborate, with floral designs and silk or wool dresses, fancy embroidery, decorative silk ribbons and bows, lace work, gold or silver jewelry, coral, amber necklaces and pearls for women. The colors of the dresses tend to be bright and numerous, with colors ranging from gold, red, blue, white and black, all in one costume.

Truly precious and unique, made to be passed down.
