Care and Maintenance Tips

Tips for the best care and maintenance of unique and unrepeatable pieces by Isotta Gioielli.

Each Isotta jewel is a unique piece and for this reason I recommend treating it with care and delicacy by keeping it in the packaging provided.

Isotta jewels, although made of 925 silver plated with 18-karat gold at a high thickness, are sensitive to acidic and oxidizing substances and to aggressive chemical and physical agents.

Vermeil gold components have a thickness of gold of as much as 2.5 microns and, therefore, are more resistant, enhancing their brilliance even better. Although vermeil is particularly resistant over time, when you are not wearing your jewelry, it is preferable to store it in a jewelry box to prevent natural oxidation. Never use chemical agents, such as detergents and makeup removers, or rough fabrics to clean your jewelry. Simply clean the jewelry with a soft cloth and place the item in its case.
Porcelains and enamels do not contain substances harmful to health, in particular, the colors are certified and the gold of the lustres are lead-free and REACH certified.

Precautions
Before wearing the earrings, clean the metal pins or hooks that are inserted into the holes; remember that they are made of gold-plated 925 silver.
Simply wash them with soap and water, rinse them thoroughly and wipe them with a cotton ball or soft cloth.

The four mistakes to avoid:

  • Salt and sand are enemies of all jewelry components, as are thermal waters and high temperatures.
  • Sweat in the gym and chlorine in the pool are enemies of the brightness of gold, natural stones and pearls.
  • In general, jewelry is sensitive to beauty products, chemicals and acids, so it is best to avoid contact with hairspray, perfume, creams, detergents, etc. A good tip is to use such products before putting on jewelry.
  • Pearls and natural stones are sensitive to temperature changes, cosmetics, detergents and cigarette smoke. These products can penetrate the stone and alter its color.
  • Pearls are produced by a living organism, they are made up of water and proteins and if these are lacking they can dry out causing cracks in the mother-of-pearl, ruining the luster of your pearls making it dull and colourless.
